Heart Monitoring T-shirt

Posted by Helge Johannessen on April 21, 2008

It has become a reality, you can now buy a nice looking t-shirt, The Vital Jacket, which monitors your heart rate (ECG). It can be used both for people with high risk for heart diseases or for sports and fitness. There are two versions, one monitors continuously and you get a report when you hook it up to a computer. The other version gives you real time readings via Bluetooth to you PDA or similar.  I guess the latter is more relevant for workout.  Both have alarms which can be set to go off at certain hearth rates.  The jacket will set you back €399 and should be available for ordering soon from Vital Jacket’s website. Read more about it at talk2myShirt.

And why would we need this? Wait a minute, this is yet another way to make money and support people in not changing their diets by simply hoping the shirt will safe them. At first people in real need will use it and once the taste of profit looms they will want to attract a greater more general population. I am so cynical today ;)

I’ll take one, no several, both for working out and on when I get older to alert me of any danger looming. I’ll want this in all my garments thank you very much. Sorry, but I don’t see a direct link to diet in this case.
